New Remixes Released

Hello everyone, sorry for the late blog release this month, life has been crazy, but I had sometime to put together some new Kölsch & other music news, I hope you enjoy the read.

Subsequently, to kick us off is some new EPIC remixes.

Pale Blue – Together Alone (Kölsch Remix) – on Crosstown Rebels

A real touch of “Kölsch” has been applied to this amazing track, super excited this has been released as I love the flow of the track and great easy listen I reckon either in the club or in the car on a long drive, a real special track. (Vinyl copy with the Kölsch remix is out now) #orderedmycopy

Kölsch - All that Matters – (Artbat Remix) – on Kompakt

This is an excellent take on an absolute Kölsch classic and Artbat have added a real twist to the track keeping the vocals in total sync.  Love the remix style.

Live Stream

We was treated to an excellent LIVE stream via Beatport on Facebook of Kölsch & Pete Tong B2B on the IMS Set in IBIZA.  Some great and different tracks dropped on this set well worth a relive via the link below.

Also here is a starter track listing of the set and below is some updates I am aware of.

Tracklisting Update

2nd Track ID on the list is Kölsch & Alex Kennon – “Superburro”

Another track ID is Kölsch & Kevin de Vries with the track “Gate”

Couldn’t not give a shout out for Mind Dimension – What a Tune!

Also, amazing to hear – “Rex the Dog – Change This Pain for Ecstasy” released on Kompakt being dropped as a track in this B2B (See my other music section below for more on this EPIC track.)

Also, the last track ID dropped by Kölsch is “amazing” and a massive hit for me, definitely one to watch out for and hopefully coming soon!

The set is well worth a listen again and again, like I did while writing this blog update.

BBC Radio 1 - Hot Mix - Progress Report

So, I listen to Radio 1 every Friday night and this week we was treated to Kölsch taking control of the decks for a Radio 1 – Hot mix which was called the “Progress report” – of Kölsch’s current work in progress tracks.  This was my highlight of any hot mix on Radio 1.  Below I have down a run down of my thoughts, do you feel the same, let us know.

Beacon – Payed My Dues (Kölsch Remix) – This track has just been growing and growing for me after listening again and again.  Space radar sounds in the background just is mesmerizing.

Kölsch & Tiga – Almost Everything – WOW this is the same level as HAL in pure quality, possibly my favourite collaboration so far of any Kölsch track, that touch of vocal that moves it in to a new space of a techno sound amazing. (Was just smallest of difference being my second favourite track of the hot mix).

Kölsch – I Talk to Water – This is a real different vocal sound, with a clean beat with a feeling to the more ambient sound to Kölsch’s music.

Kölsch & Kevin De Vires – Masterplan – WOW again how many times have I wondered what the name of this song is as it has been dropped so many times in sets and is EPIC.  Finally, I can put a name to a track.

Who remembers hearing it here? It is a little different each set but is still of the highest quality.

From 48 minutes in 😊

But again, wow what amazing set and 100% worth a rewatch – EPIC tracks!

However, will this track EVER be released?

Kölsch & Alex Kennon – Superburro – This is a hard-hitting track and for me has a very new wave 80’s synth vibe to it.  This is a growing track for me it is a very different vibe but a good vibe.

Kölsch & Kevin de Vries – Gate – the 2nd collaboration release in the hot mix, this has another hard beat feeling with some real different “wave” sounds though out and build ups and drops with an acid type drive reminding me of a plane dropping out of the sky and pulling up.  Thumbs up for this track!

Kölsch – Only gets better – So this is it my track of the hot mix, I LOVE the drop of a gap – just makes a track.  However, I must be honest I never knew what the vocals said until I see the song title now I can’t unhear it.

Kölsch & Tiga – Hand in Hand – The final track of the hot mix and the 2nd collaboration with Tiga – Again this is pure magic of a track.  The vocal mix of this tracks is perfect always the perfect blend.  A real stomp and wobble sound. One word EPIC!  As echoed by the man Pete Tong.

What an absolute treat of a hot mix.  Check out the link below

Other Music News

Rex the Dog – New Release & Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune!

So not only am I Kölsch biggest fan but I am huge fan of Rex’s the Dog’s Music & Artwok as well and if you haven’t heard of Rex the Dog (where have you been?) but I would say for me it’s like the re-invention of JX (which you will remember has the smash songs of “Son of a Gun” & “There’s nothing I won’t do”).  Anyway, after a little time working away in the studio, we now have two brand new Rex the Dog tracks released on Kompakt records and they are amazing tracks I would even say an AA side release.

The first track is “Change This Pain for Ecstasy” this is a real “different” track with some amazing build up of samples, beats and vocals and hearing this develop over the weeks via Patreon has been amazing and is very different to what is out there now.  A 100% deserved Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune for April 2023.  Pete even dropped the track in the Beatport “Pete Tong B2B with Kölsch”. That is how powerful this track will be for the Summer of 2023.

The second track is “Moto” which for my is a real “Acid” style harder sounding track this is right up my street for a release.  Hence why it an AA side release, I could easily drop this track into one of my sets and play it loud. #Amazingtrack

Also worth a shout out is the amazing artwork done for the EP cover and Spotify Animations.

So, to celebrate the release of “Change This Pain for Ecstasy” Rex did a Twitch launch party which has the link below to replay  I was there in full support and was a great night.

Also worth a shout is Rex’s Spotify track list – REXSTASY – Updated often with some amazing and different sounding music.  Some tracks listed here really open your mind.

Finally, here is a shout out to Rex’s Patreon page as well https://www.patreon.com/rexthedog/posts well worth joining for updates, caption competitions (see how bad I am at them sometimes LOL) and chatting with other Patreon’s.

Finally, some other tracks I am loving at the moment and a link to my always updating 2023 Spotify playlist.

  • Meat Beat Manifesto EP; feature my top 2x tracks – Radio Babylon (Originally Released 89) & Helter Skelter – I have even ordered the new re-release on Vinyl – whoops 😊
  • Young Marco – What you Say? (Ordered the single sided vinyl Limited Edition) as I remember hearing being dropped at the end of Kölsch set the other day = Amazing track.
  • Finally on 12” vinyl pre-release I have ordered via Kompakt, the best Kölsch track of 2023 – Kölsch – Environ (& Cold Air) as well as Rex the Dog 12” version of – Change this Pain for Ecstasy & Moto
  • In additional there is another pre-order release from another set of masters of techno Michael Mayer & Barnt = Speicher 125 with the tracks Teller & Duration – outstanding tracks, with Teller taking the top spot for me as a track (vinyl copy on order) 😊

Also, last month I visited the Our-house Museum in Amsterdam the world first dance music museum it was a great trip so many cool things to see and do, one of the many highlights was seeing Joris Voorn’s original Roland 303 on display and worthy of a selfie.

I would highly recommend a visit and it’s a 5 out of 5 review from me but I don’t want to go into too much detail about what is there as you need to experience it and feel it for yourself.

About Me – Update

So, I thought I would take an opportunity just to share a small update about some bits that are going on with me that I will also update int the about me section on the website.  The reason for the update is because a couple of new friends of mine have started to a new DJ collective called “The Barley Boys”.  What? You might ask well here a quick story why.

So, I moved to a new housing estate called Finches Park just over a year ago and got talking to some new neighbours moving into the estate and we ended up showing some of them around our house and after talking for a bit we got on to our hobbies and ended up showing them my man cave/studio, and it turns out doing this that 3 of us had a passion for DJ’ing and dance music.  Well, this resulted in some amazing new friendships in which and we did a couple of moving in parties on the estate and did some back 2 back sets with our different styles of music.

So, who are the Barley Boys?  Well, we have myself John with a Techno / New Beat / Acid / Tech House & Old Skool background and love of music, Matt with a house, dance and tech house passion and Tony with a UKG vibe and together we make I think a great set with a real mash of tracks for a set.

So, where did the name “The Barley Boys” come from?  The fact is we all live on a road called Barley Road on the estate and my daughter come out with look “The Barley Boys” are on the decks.  Then out of the blue that name just stuck with the 3 of us.  So, there we go the Barley Boys was born and we have been playing together as much as we can (work & family permitting) and doing some practice nights, LIVE streams, and parties.  We have even booked a 150 people gig & venue for all the people on our estate (Finches Park) for a private party so we can share the love of dance music with everyone.  So, there we go that is the story of the birth of “The Barley Boys”, also I have introduced a lot of new people to the sound of Kölsch when DJing at my sets. 😊

We have a small footprint so far but here is our Instagram & Twitch are LIVE – so feel free to give us a follow.

However, I must be honest I haven’t had much time myself to get on the decks with stuff going on family, kids, and work but in the summer, I will be getting on there for some LIVE streams for sure as I have tons of new tracks I want to play out.

Well that an update from me, sorry it was a little late since the last update, (hope it was worth the wait and read) but life was just so busy but fun oh and as a bonus it is not too long until Creamfields South 2023.  I might see you there and if you do feel free to say hello. 😊  Keep safe & Keep Raving….
