“An Amazing” Album Release Incoming
So, there we have it the new release date for 5th Kompakt Album “I Talk to Water” 24th October 2023.
How exciting to be able to own this masterpiece of music, also we are getting special edition yellow vinyl version as well as well as a double vinyl 12 track version and CD.
I have pre-ordered all 3x versions for the collection.
However, I was ultra lucky enough to have a chance to hear the album and I had to share my personal review of the new album.
So, diving into this new 12 track album called “I talk to water”, the 5th album on the Kompakt label,
My thoughts for this album are that it is a “journey” album, and different to what I was expecting in a good way! This to me is not like the original trio of albums 1977, 1983 and 1989 or even Now Here No Where. For me this album is a blend of tracks of different energy levels more aligned to the “Isopolis” album but with a more deeper techno vibe on the same lines 1989 but not the same. I think you have to listen to the album to “feel” the tracks and how they fit together to really get it. I strongly recommend that you take some time out, play it loud then play softly in your headphones (and any other way you can think) and see what I mean, it will be different every time.
I have tried to capture my thoughts for each track of the album (on my first listen) but each time I listen to this album, I can see my thoughts changing and flipping depending on my mood at the time, as each track you will hear you will feel something new.
1) I Talk to Water – The album’s title track is a perfect start of the journey – makes me think of tropical islands with deep blue oceans (almost like a film soundtrack).
2) Dream – Mellow vibes and piano loops and beats allow you to just zone out to the world around you.
3) Grape – This is a sit back in a chair or dance slow, I can’t explain it, but it’s like garage style sound or Bicep beat vibe very different – I like it a lot.
4) Pet Sound – Synth vibe, echo’s, electric sounds mixed in a big pot of techno has a real 1989 feel to this track.
5) Khenpo – I would say this is the first track I recognise from being played out in sets, this to me is what I guess you could say is “romantic” techno if I was to pick a top 3 tracks this is number 3 for me. Such a great opening set track this.
6) Thoughts – Again it has that garage music sound I can’t explain, even Fred. Again vibe, with amazing piano sounds throughout and even has to me a Michael Mayer type vibe from his more abstract music. This has been, I would say, one of my biggest “growing” tracks of the album.
7) Only get better – WOW – This track is number 2 – This track means a lot to me hearing this – The vocals at this time are PERFECT in my life with so many ups and downs, life moves fast – so I always say to the family everyday- “It can only get better”! – This track helps me a lot!
8) Implant – This feels like a song to reflect on thoughts to – the most Isopoils album feeling track – quiet thoughts with yourself type track.
9) Hands of Time – Deep energy track, lots of layers to this track again has that vibe to grow and grow as a track.
10) Tell Me – I have to say this has a “deep/sad” feeling of memories for me. I don’t know how to feel about this track – I think it will change depending on how I am feeling and I think I really have to listen to the vocals but I need to be in that place to do that. This track is a really hard one for me to say how I feel…but it is beautiful.
11) An Amazing – So here we are Number 1 – This track is outstanding to the next level – This is in the same league as Woohman, Grey, and Hold. The drop with the drums, the beat, the bass, the waves of sounds, the build of energy to drum drops like nothing else from beginning to end, this is the outstanding track of the album. Also, to experience this LIVE just EPIC. WOW!!!
12) It ends where it began – So let’s hope it never ends! The country sound with a guitar makes it feel like I am at a festival sitting on hay bales. The samples in this track remind me of Goldfisch in terms of background sounds – makes it so different and unique. It gives me a feeling of Fleetwood Mac and listening to them as a child and a perfect end to the album.
So that’s my first thoughts of listening to the full album and since my first play thought of all the tracks they Definity grow, change and adapt to your mood, unlike any other album. Also “An Amazing” has been released and just shows how good this album is. Check it out now this is a MUST have Single & Album!
