Christmas Update and the End of 2024

WhoMadeWho & Kölsch – Heartless (Alex Wann Remix)

First off in this end of year update is another outstanding remix of the WhoMadeWho & Kölsch – Heartless track this time it has been remixed by Alex Wann, and has done an outstanding job with this remix, keeping the essence of the track alive but with Alex’s distinct sound layered on top, also this track was also the opening track on Friday at KOKO time to sing along.

Kölsch has also been busy in the remix space with this great track with some great vocals, piano loops and bass.

What a night at KOKO

So, myself and amazing friend Matt headed off to KOKO to see Kölsch DJ again after the EPIC night at Fabric and to experience an iconic venue in London and we weren’t disappointed at all. It was easy to find and get in, with security being swift and sound. We had a good look around this amazing venue from the very top to the very bottom and everywhere in between this maze-like building including the outdoor terrace, the main dance floor and the DJ platform. The views and tons of space to dance are incredible from high up, to low down and packed in, there is something for everyone.

We got there fairly early and got to also see Julya Karma DJ as well and she was playing an intense set with some outstanding tracks and remixes and I would highly recommend catching one of her sets live if she is playing near you and to also check out her sets online.

There are some quality sets on YouTube here is one of my favourite sets that I have discovered and I will be listening to more into 2025.

Then it was 2:30am and time for what become one serious good and outstanding night of even more dancing and crazy good music. As always, I try and remember the tracks as best I can and ones that make the crowd go crazy. This is my take on tracks of the night I remember.

To start with there was an amazing amount of track ID’s and some with recognisable samples like

Other heavy hitting tracks included a drum & bass track drop (I still think Rune should have a go at a Drum & Bass spin off EP)

Environ
Der Atre & of course Grey (Which I saw on so many mobile phones message screens – however what was nice there wasn’t too many people on mobiles and really there to dance and enjoy!)

Best of course is the quality ending with – Talk Talk – it’s my life

When you experience listening to the ending of a set with this track it is just such a mad experience of the crowd singing along and the lights coming up at 5am. Nothing else like it.

The venue and sounds system were nothing short of expectational, lots of good vibes as well and on the dance floor, there was some crazy characters loving it and great times.

After the show, Rune was a legend and signed my Balance CD – Thank you! Another one for the collection. Also, if you haven’t heard this compilation check it out there are some brilliant tracks and remixes on there.

Finally, I also want to thank Rune, Julia, Matt and all the amazing people I met on the night (sorry I didn’t remember everyone’s name or I didn’t hear it right as it was so loud) but meeting you all made it’s so special and some real memories made and hope to catch up again soon (got some great photos).

Well writing end of year blog it is almost Christmas (15 sleeps at time of writing) and New Years it’s a great time to enjoy and have fun, I even got myself an early Christmas present by finally managing to source an excellent condition CD copy of the 1983 album for under £50. (Sharpie at the ready 😊 to get this last one signed).

My back catalogue of Kölsch and Rune Tracks is growing still as well when I can find them.

So, what an amazing year of 2024 and reflecting back on some amazing crazy times!
