Creamfields 2021

So, it finally happened I managed to get to Creamfields 2021 after a 11 hour round trip there and back and was it worth it? Yes 1000% it was.

So, this was my first Creamfields experience and wasn’t 100% sure of what to expect but it beat all my expectations (well expect the nightmare getting in but that was a mere blip) in what was an amazing day.

The trip up with my brother was good, other then a bit of traffic which be honest was to be expected but with the 10-hour set on the USB we was well under way.

Once there we had a walk around the venue and popped into different areas to get the experience of everything.  Loaded up with water and headed to the “steel yard” in which Christoph was playing ready to see Kolsch.  As I head to the front of the arena, I noticed Rune other by the artist entrance and with no luck asking security to call Rune over.  A couple of next to me shouted over and with a stroke of luck Rune heard the couple and head over to our direction.

Wow the legend was coming over!  What a great guy he spoke to the couple first and then I asked could he sign my CD “1977” album and said yes!  So, sharpie was ready (then to get the plastic off the CD or it can’t be signed – Whoops). The Rune said “what your name” I said John and asked if I was from the website and said “yes” showed him my badge my daughtered had made for me to add to my bag.  He then said thank you for a great said and my appreciated.  Bonus and super chuffed he had seen the website and were happy about it and signed the CD “To John, Thank You, For Everything” Rune!  Of course, couldn’t thank him enough.  The CD and Cover I will be framing and placing on the wall of my studio next to the 1210’s.  I said I was around for the whole show of course showed I had my “head in the clouds” t-shirt on and ready to dance!  Grabbed a selfie of course in which I look awful, but I have been dancing like a mad man to Christoph before so excuse the hair.  So, what can I say I meet the legend that is Kolsch and a number 1 top guy!  I mean the chances were slim in meeting a DJ in a location as big as Creamfields but super lucky and happy!

If Rune is at Creamfields 2022 I might be cheeky and ask if he will sign my copy 1983.  Talking of Creamfields 2022 there looking to also come to Chelmsford in the UK which is about 40 miles so less than an hour for me.  Fingers cross another Kolsch visit.

I took a few photos of the set, but I was too busy dancing and loving the vibe too much, but I do have a few to share with you. (And a selfie – sorry)

As for the set it’s self I couldn’t have started any better than what I think is the “track of 2021!” even if unreleased.  The drum and acid sound are an instant classic 1000%.

Tracks and highlights of the set

·         Numbers – Douglas Greed – Odd Beholder (Kolsch Remix)

·         Clear – Kolsch (Best released track of 2021)

·         Countach – Butch – (Kolsch Remix)

·         “Only love can break your heart” – Track ID

·         Der Alte – Kolsch

·         There a track with an old school drum beat and swoosh sound about 40 mins into the set and before Kolsch dropped “Grey” – another classic banging in the wings!

·         Grey – Kolsch (nothing to say that hasn’t been said!) Tune! – Crowed just went mad for it!

·         Then there another Track ID that was played at the Awakenings 2020 set – Love it as a banging track.

·         There was a heavy acid inspired track in there as a Track ID with samples in “In for the Kill” from La Roux. Much approved of this track love the acid 303 sound!

·         Followed by another acid track and another Track ID

·         Loreley – Kolsch Classic – Hearing this LIVE is another level to this track to me this track is Kolsch!

·         London Grammar – Hell to the Liars – Kolsch Remix

·         Finally ending with another Track ID with the amazing samples of Ghosts by Thomas Newman and a perfect track to end a perfect Creamfields 2021 set.

Of course, there was tons of unrelease track IDs in the set which is amazing and so excited to see what is released for my collection.

Every track was banging and the crowed loved it, it was going off for sure.  Even the security guard “See selfie below” was loving it some great people there in the crowd.

Mega friendly people loving it large.  I did stay for the start of Adam Beyer set then over to watch Bicep Live and back to Eric Prydz.

All in all, what an amazing day and can’t wait for 2022.  If I can’t get to see Kolsch again in 2021.  Now fingers cross I am hoping to make to Ibiza in October and there is a gap in Kolsch’s tour dates for that weekend I am their fingers crossed maybe?
